    Today I checked Hotwire again, and there was a 4.5* in their Magnificent Mile/River North zone for $118 that was listed as non-smoking.  After research, I figured the 4.5* hotels in this zone were the Conrad and the Intercontinental.  I figured the availability was at the Intercontinental because the rates there were $189.  Cheapest at the Conrad was a $215 pre-purchase.
