I saw somebody else got Loews for $113, but I was bidding up in fives, so I ended up with $115. Started out at $90, used free re-bids. The website price was $180, so we're really happy as this was our target hotel. Also, this was a last minute bid as we're going there tonight. Used A-B link. Thanks.

I started my bidding at $65 and went up in $5 increments until it was finally accepted at $95. It isn't the greatest deal, but for the quality of the hotel, it's better than what I could find on Travelocity. Final cost after taxes is $110/night. I think New Year's and the Holiday Bowl increased the rates of hotels.

Using free rebids, failed at $45 and $50 before winning at $55/night for holiday time (Dec 23-Dec28). I haven't seen the Holiday Inn Oceanside Marina property before in BFT. According to some user reviews, this is a brand new property. I know that area of Oceanside, and there's a lot of 2* and 2.5* properties nearby, so I believe it's the best in that area. Their present online rate is ~$132 per night, so my winning bid looks great by comparison.

Using the AB link, I started low and used rebids to get two rooms for $60 each. My favorite property in Gaslamp featured a rate of $229 on their site.

A friend suggested I use Priceline to find a hotel in San Diego. My heart was set on Hotel Cornado so I started the bid for a four start hotel in the Cornado area with 110 for 12/26 - 12/28. It did not get accepted so I expanded to Del Mar, REJECTED. I added downtown area and bam! got Hyatt for 110. Duh - Hyatt has those prices on their website. What did I gain from booking through priceline and at non refundable price....a lotta of disappointment. I guess better luck next time.

Ideally wanted somewhere in downtown SD, but ended up on Harbor Island. I guess that's the risk you take with Priceline (since the designated area includes both downtown and Harbor Island)!

This was my goal resort.

Started at $90/night, as no recent wins here. Last win was $99 and then $112/night. At $103/night, received a counter offer of $22. Given the huge number of free rebids, I was going up by $1/night, at this point. $22 counters offers continued to $106/night. Then they reappeared at $110/night. I finally locked in at $113/night.

Possible explanation for the counters, the Marriott Coronado has gone for $130/night, but not for awhile (posted at least)....
