I just got my 2010 Entertainment Book, and for the first time it has a Priceline discount! $10 per night for a hotel booking, minimum 2* hotel, 2 nite stay. Don't know the max yet. You have to book through the Entertainment website.

This is a great deal that could make you money on the purchase of the book in just one transaction. I don't know if every edition has it, but mine does. I have never seen Priceline participate before, and it's good until December 2010...

Will Priceline have a simple cancellation policy so that a traveler who has the flu can cancel or postpone a trip? It would seem to me that they would have a consumer friendly policy dealing with a sick person.

ORF change in star level

The Courtyard by Marriott, ORF is now listed as a 2.5* by PL again. It was there before, but the hotel list had bumped it to a 3* quite a while ago. I am only disappointed in that I probably could have gotten it cheaper. I was bidding it like a 3*. We have been impressed with all the Courtyards that we have stayed at before.

Priceline v. Hotwire Star Levels

About a year or so ago, Priceline revised its star-level ratings. Prior to that, what Priceline rated as a 2.5 star, often showed up as a 3* Hotwire. Does anyone know how closely the two sites star-level ratings parallel one another?

I'm really curious as to what others think in regard to a statement made within a Priceline e-mail sent to me today. It stated as follows:

"If you have tried as many combinations as you can - and you have gone as high as you can for your offer price - it may also be possible that there is no available inventory in the areas you have selected on your travel dates."

My suggestion (if it hasn't already been made multiple times) is using google maps to plot hotels for 3 through 4 star level hotels (or maybe just 4 star, since that seems to have the highest bid frequency) for major cities, which then could be added to the hotels list topic for each city. Does Priceline have a policy if you win a hotel that is under renovation and the noise makes it unabearable to stay there? Obviously, ethical hotels post that they are under renovation, but since its a surprise as to what hotel you will get, it's impossible for a PL bidder to know that ahead of time. Appreciate anyone's input. Thanks.
