Just got Hollywood Crowne Plaza for $90 (total $108.56 w/ tax) after unsuccessful lower bids. Area was 4-star in Lauderdale (Beach, Downtown, and Hollywood).

Started at $50 for Hollywood and Downtown zones. Rebids up to $100 + $10 bonus cash (Entertainment book, couldn't use A-B link). That was as high as I was going. Lowest price on the Crowne Plaza website was around $250/night... GO STEELERS!!!

Was trying to get downtown or beach 3* hotel for up to $100 without success.
Eventually got Holiday Inn on Sheridan Street for $90 ($108.57 with taxes). Expedia rate is $137.

I started at 65.00 and bid all the way up to 95.00 with no luck
for a 4 * then I started another bid for 31/2 * in same area,,,with the same results. Will try again in a few days. I have Cambria Suites on reserve just in case for $140.00 plus tax. Looks like that might be a real good deal.

Does anyone have any idea what event is happening in downtown Ft. Lauderdale on 1/15/10? I've been bidding for a 4* for a very long time...up to $85.00...all bids rejected. I assume there must be something happening in town that weekend.

Just got 2 rooms pre-cruise at peak time for $79 per night. Hotel website showed lowest rate at $229 for 4/22 and $239 for 4/23 Used AB link.

$79 X 2 = $158 plus taxes and fees $27.52 = $185.52 total per room

I had originally posted (11-17-09) that I tried for Dec. 22 and had failed bids up to $60 for this date in Downtown. Tried again and started out with $50 since I thought I would still have to go above $60. This was accepted on the first try. I wish I had started lower now but thrilled with the outcome anyway since the going rate was $199 on the website for this date! woo hoo!!

Just got the Hyatt Place for March 25th for $70 - $85.92 including taxes and fees. I saw reports of people getting this hotel for $70 - so I tried it. I bid $67 for Downtown Fort Lauderdale - after being rejected - rebid $70 adding Fort Lauderdale Airport Nortth and was notified that my bid was accepted and the hotel would be the Hyatt Place on 10th Street. This is the hotel we wanted to stay...

We are wanting visiting FL 21-24 Feb on vacation. We would like to book a non smoking room at a hotel probably near the beach. We enjoy walking around and seeing the sights and the sounds of the city. What would be the best stategy for bidding and should I start now or wait closer to the dates. I think I want a 4 star but I would like to get the best price possible. Any suggestions?

OK I'm a rookie here and looked at the $46 winners at the Hilton on the 17th St Waterway, but couldn't seem to get close - even in the $55 range.
I added Downtown and Hollywood and crept up to $56 and got accepted at the Riverview.

I'm OK because I like that I can walk to the Las Olas scene and the boat parade party is at the hotel Saturday night.
I probably could have done better if I was more patient, but I'm happy with my first attempt.
