I just found this site so this is after-the-fact, but thought I should add my results since this site has been so helpful. I had a conference at the Miracle Mile Marriott and wanted to spend a couple of days prior playing the tourist. I think I tried $80 and it was rejected but put in $100 the next day and got the Intercontinental. It was perfect since it was just across the street from the Marriott and actually the room in the Intercontinental was WAY nicer than what I ended up with at...

I checked other hotels but not this one and it turned out not to be the best bid. OK, $60 is great but the hotel has a $99/pre-paid rate on their website which INCLUDES valet parking (value of $45/nt) for this date and I would love to valet park. Even if I find a ramp nearby, it is going to be $35-ish so I am still paying more, after PCLN fees, and have to walk to the hotel...although I don't risk a valet day. Ehhh, all in a day.

Avenue Hotel Rip-Off--Advice?

I recently won a bid for two rooms at the NMA Avenue Hotel for 12/18-12/19 (two nights) for $63. The price was OK, but not spectacular. My wife and I are taking one room and our 21-year-old daughter and 18-year-old on the other. When I called to put in a request for one room with two beds, I was informed that the only way I could get a room with two beds was to upgrade the room for $40 per night. This is not because their lower-priced two bed rooms are booked, but because THEY DO NOT HAVE...

Our travelling companions from the previous post are going home early, so we did a separate bid for extra nights for us (realizing that we might have to move). This time, I asked my wife to do the free-rebid trick. She started at $55, was turned down, then added Skokie for $60 and won at the Felix. (Hurrah - we won't have to move!)

Friday before Christmas in Chicago! Thought I would go for a 3* so I'd have more $$ for gifts. First bid was $45 for a 3* on NMA, and got the Hilton Garden. Internet rate for that night was $100 for "Best Available," and $89 for a no-refund, immediate purchase option.

I'm happy to see that the 3* Hilton Garden offers complimentary internet access. When oh when will 4* hotels get with the program!

I got it on the first try. I bid $30 and used $20 bring a friend bonus cash reward from priceline for a winning bid of $50 per night. My total cost is only $83.26 with taxes and fees for two nights. The best available rate on the Hilton website is $109 per night.

This is a new hotel that sure surprised me. The rack rate is only $89, so I seriously overbid. But who knew?? Guess it's worth it to know about this new, affordable Loop hotel. And I was very glad to get a Sat. nite checkin.

I've been working on this one for awhile. The VERY LARGE convention going on through the 4th really hampered my ability to get a good deal. I'd been working 4* progressive bidding for a few weeks and was going nowhere. Starting increase bids slowly for 4* pretty high and still wasn't getting it.
