Spending a weekend in D.C. with the Mrs., going to a Wizards game, so I wanted to stay in this zone.

Used my free rebids, starting at $50, and moving up $2 or $3 each bid. At $58, they countered with $75, which I shrugged off.

Accepted at $63 at the Liaison Capital Hill. Not my top hotel in the zone, but I know it's been going off low in this zone, and with the money I saved, we went ahead and spent extra to get floor seats. Used the A/B link for my bids, as...

Actually wanted G'town/ Foggy Bottom; started at 50 - no dice. Added Mt. Vernon at 55 rejected. Added DT/WH at 60 and got the Topaz Hotel.

It's a Kimpton Hotel and they are great (stayed at teh Solamar in San Diego in October, and it was wonderful). However, I haven't yet called to see if they'll give me a room with two beds. And parking is huge ripoff at $35 overnight (unless you have a hybrid, in which case it's free!!!). Ah, well - it's D.C.!

Bid $37 Arlington. Recieved an option to rebid with same parameters if I increase bid by $10 now. Ignored that. Added Mt Vernon for my free rebid. $39 accepted. Will be in town for the Marine Corps Marathon that weekend. Happy to find such a great deal!

I started bidding at $60. At $70 I got offer to increase bid by $22. Declined. Won at $77 at Gregory Inn and Suites. This hotel is not on the Hotel List for 4* hotels. It does not appear to be a true 4* hotel. I checked the hotel's website and it was $102/night and includes free parking if I use AAA (a $29 cost). Maybe I will feel differently if we have a nice stay, but right now I feel ripped off and mad at Priceline!

Hotwire bid, but I wanted to share...

I thought it was a little early to be booking for April, but couldn't pass up the $62 a night price. I usually Priceline, but I'll take the guaranteed $62 when sheraton.com says $219 for the same dates. Going with friends and our kids to see DC and got twice as many rooms for 1/2 the price of the regular rate. We are very happy. $700 for 5 nights/two rooms is a great deal I think.

I did a long series of casual bids for 4* in WH/DT and Conv Ctr without success up to $120 (didn't use rebid zones since I had plenty of time). This is a mid-week (Mon-Thurs) stay, as opposed to most posts here for weekends (the DC hotels are empty on weekends, hence good rates). This is also NOT a time period covered in the current direct book special rates at the 4* Liaison in Conv Ctr zone.

Looked at the 3.5 star hotels in various zones specifically today, I did note note...

Started at 4* $79, then added 3.5 star same price, then won 3* @ $89. This Residence Inn is 1 year old and wonderful - their newest prototype (stayed here before). Directly accross the street from our conference at the Gaylord National (Group rate $239/night - saved $1,042 in room and tax for the six nights) the Rooms are much bigger and nicer than the Gaylord or Westin, and you get free breakfast! I was pleasantly surprised to get this hotel for $70 for November 20 and 21.

We wanted to be near the White House but it looked as if there were no winning bids under $100 in that zone. Thought I'd try for accomodations nearby and only entered the WH/DT zone on a fluke.

We're happy!

Was bidding up to $95 on Crystal City and Alexandria 3 stars up until a few weeks ago... Bid tonight (now just under 3 months away), and got it on my first bid (upgraded from 3 star).... Based on past bids, probably could have got it for $60. Very satisfied with this "win"....
