Posts: 5 (08/13/03 7:57 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I bidded this hotel for $35. The valet parking costs $30 (unlimited in/out) and the self parking costs $15. You need to go to the front desk to ask for a sticker on the parking ticket to get this $15 deal. The self-parking garage is on 135 Green Street. It's also a Hertz rental car parking garage. You will see the garage before you see Hyatt. It's on your left hand side. Look for "P" sign and the "Hertz" logo. I believe the garage is open 24 hrs. The size of the room is decent and it is much better than the one I had in the Courtyard Secausus. There is a L-shape desk, a refrigrator, and a safe inside the room.

One of bellhops told me you can park on the streets surrounding/near the hotel for free on weekends(Friday night, all day Saturday & Sunday til very early Monday morning). Wasn't able to take advantage of it because of festival was being held in the area the weekend we were there. Our room was on the 7th floor, room was decent size with king size bed, comfortable lounging chair, L shaped desk, refig, picture window with great view of lower Manhattan to GW Bridge. Watched the cruise ships come in early Saturday morning from our rooms' picture widow while having coffee and watched them leave late Saturday afternoon while having drinks before dinner. After dinner watched NYC light up from our rooms' picture window. A decent bar (with happy hours) and places to eat very nearby if you don't use hotel bar & restaurant. Easy access to NYC. PATH station right outside hotel entrance with a 15 mintue ride to lower Manhattan & 20 miutes to 34th Street. Cost $1.50 each way! This would of been a great value at twice the $37($45 with taxes & fees) that I paid a night. I sure hope I can get a comparable deal here in my future visits to NYC! The heck with staying in The City with this gem so close by!

The PATH train Exchange Place station is right out the door, the only downside is that trains don't run as frequently on weekends and late nights, and you do have to transfer trains to get from Exchange Place to the city. First stay received room 513, on north side with view of midtown Manhattan. Second stay received room 210, on south side with view of harbor and downtown Manhattan. Lobby is actually on 3rd floor, so it was a little unusual to take the elevator down to get to the hotel room. The second floor room was fairly close to the promenade which runs around the hotel, but the curtains closed sufficiently for privacy. Plenty of desk space, two chairs for desk, lounge chair with ottoman, both rooms with king size bed. Local calls are $1.05 for unlimited duration. Two bathrobes in closet. Would stay here again, especially at $35/night bid.

I thought a cab back to the hotel at night might be a nice alternate to a possible 30-minute wait on the PATH train platform plus a transfer!

Confirm with previous posters re all the advantages of staying here, PATH station is about 5 yds from the hotel (15 mins to 33rd St)+ there is a ferry to WTC (5 mins to Pier A battery park) Another PATH station is at Panovia which is about a 10 min. walk.More frequent trains especially at weekends. Splashed out on a meal in the Vu restaurant. Food\service and View impecable! Staff very courteous but not obsequious (snooty). Small pool + gym is free to guests, free shuttle bus to local destinations. A steal!

This hotel is nicer than any I've stayed at in NYC (14 different hotels alone this year), except the Westin Times Square. The first three things you notice upon entering the lobby: 1) The view 2) The view 3) The view Probably the most gorgeous view of Manhattan I've seen (I don't get invited to parties at million dollar condos on the Hudson). The hotel itself is almost brand new. The room was huge (compared to Manhattan), had a desk with 2 chairs, king sized bed, and a beautiful view of Lower Manhattan. The bed, the bathroom, everything about the room was great. Room service was relatively cheap, and very good. The "steak and eggs" for $16 includes a 5 oz. filet mignon, well worth it. I wish Priceline would upgrade this hotel as I would bid for it every time I stay in Manhattan, and avoid getting the Doubletree.

Check-in was a breeze, I was directly to local restaurants via map by the concierge (I checked in around 6 PM), and settled into my room on the 8th floor (I believe their highest). The room was SPECTACULAR and ENORMOUS. Much larger than the Hyatt Austin rooms I'm used to. I had a sweeping view of the Hudson, Empire State Bldg, Chrysler Bldg, DT NYC, and the Statue of Liberty. Toiletries were standard (Portico, I think?), the beds were had luscious linens on them -- a very comfortable down blanket. Everything was perfect. I couldn't believe my steal -- the room rate on the door was $550. Thanks again BFT!

I had the dinner at the onsite restaurant Vu, and the Manhattan view is gorgeous; it open till 10pm, and next to it is lounge restaurant, also has great view, open till midnight. The waiter and waitress were very nice, service is super. The food is not as expensive as I thought, and I like the "one of a kind" bred very much. 2. Some of you mentioned about Taxi. In fact, after November 23, 2003, the PATH World Trade Center reopen, you can take PATH just one stop to WTC, i.e. Lower Manhanttan and can virtually walk to any places from there comfortablly, so Taxi is not necessary at all. The Exchange Place PATH station is RIGHT NEXT to Hyatt. You can take escalator (very deep) or elevator up and down (much faster). 3. This time I checked out the renovated World Financial Center and Winter Garden; there is skywalk from WTC over. Next to it is Embassy Suites with foodcourt and cienema which is very nice to check out.

I can sit on the chair seeing the Hudson River and Manhattan view. So wonderful!. 9th floor is the topest floor. My friend checked in a bit on time at 3pm but was given a one Queen bed room. They were replaced two bed room but was asked to come back around 4:30pm so that hotel will have enough time to clean. So they went to NYC first. They enjoy the pool at 1st floor alot and love the view of Manhattan.

As per biddingfortravel-poster's advice, I self-parked my car at Hyatt's lot for $10 overnight (we got in very late). It's an easy and safe 2-block walk to the garage which is shared by Hertz. Save yourself the valet fee. If you must drive into the city, it's an easy merge into the Holland Tunnel in-bound lanes even during rush hour. Our room was a king-bed with a beautiful view of lower Manhattan. This hotel is so affordable and convenient to the city that I'd recommend passing on the city when prices are high.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, great room, great view. One word of caution, breakfast buffett is pricey ($40 for two including tip). There is an Au Bon Pain less than 2 blocks away. The concierge told us about an Italian restaurant that was about a 10-15 minute walk, great food and very reasonable prices (dinner for two less than $30).

I've stayed at quite a few hotels since my work requires frequent travel. I found the staff to be courteous, polite and accomodating. They did not give me any attitude or grief because my reservation was booked on PL. In fact, I had 3 seperate reservations because I had to split up my bid, I had 2 PL reservations and 1 Hotwire reservation (no luck with PL on one of the nights). When I checked in, they automatically linked all my reservations together. I politely asked if a room with a view was avail, and they switched me without any charge!!! The gym and swimming pool is quite small, but it's better than not having one. The location is REALLY convenient. The PATH train station is right next door, and 1 stop away from gnd zero, which connects to trains that take you to anywhere else in NYC. There were only 2 issues I had: 1) Although they linked my reservations, when I checked out, they only gave me a bill for the last 2 nights of my stay. I didn't realize this, but they still charged me for all 4 nights (all incidental charge). Normally this is expected and not a problem, however it was in this case becaues of problem 2 below. 2) The LD rates are OUTRAGEOUS!!! The in room guide says there is an access fee of 0.75c per call, then .25c per min for LD. However, a 5min call came up to $15! When I complained upon checking out, they removed 1 of my calls... however, because I was not shown the bill for my first 2 nights stay (see above), by the time I realized how much I was charged for the 2 nights stay, I was not able to dispute the charges. Oh, one last issue I ran into, at 2am one night, I got a call from reception, she called to ask what my name was. She apologized for the late night call, but said that there had been a check-in mistake, and that someone had checked me in under a different name. After I gave her my name, so said ok and hung up. I was not happy that someone called at 2am... worst of all, I had called that morning to confirm my stay in that room for the rest of the trip (to ensure that all my reservations got linked together). I complained the next morning to the manager, he apologized, and gave us a courtesy breakfast coupon... Overall I was quite pleased with the hotel... I would go back. However, I would avoid the following 2 things: 1) Split/multiple reservations 2) calling LD from the room phone

Never, never, never, under any circumstance direct-dial a long distance call from your room. Every traveler should have a long distance calling card from Costco/Sams/BJs/Target/Walgreens or even your neighborhood grocery store. Rates are as low as 2 cents a minute. Hyatt doesn't charge for calling toll-free numbers, so there's never any need to incur a LD call charge. Hopefully you used your Mastercard for incidental payment. The check-in/check-out mixup may have posted as multiple stays for Faster Free Night. You may have earned a free night!

It is so good that I doubt I want to stay at any hotel in Manhattan any more. On parking: offstreat parking is free and relatively easy during weekends, and from 7:00pm-7:00am during weekdays.

We had our car this time, and drove into the city one day, used PATH train subway the other day. Both methods are fairly low-stress from this location. The waterfront area has gorgeous new apartments and skyscrapers, but only extends a few blocks. We arrived after dark--my husband went to self-park, circled around the neighborhood, chickened out, and went with valet parking. As we rationalized, at least with valet we had in and out privileges, and the room was so cheap... The nighttime view from the "Vu" restaurant really does take your breath away. We had one dinner and one breakfast there. I thought that the the $16.95 breakfast buffet was a good value. (Thinking Hoboken) we asked the concierge for a recommendation for a good cheap, basic Italian restaurant nearby. He told us to be brave, walk 5 blocks west into "Old" Jersey City and try Ultimate Pizza, next to Dunkin Donuts. This turned out to be an entertaining excursion. The area was a little dodgy, but the place was full of cops and a fascinating cross section of New Jersey inhabitants. Good pizza too. We used 1-800-CHECKIN while en route and received our requested nonsmoking 2-0bed room, on the 4th floor. It was clean but the carpet already needs replacing. The area around the hotel is very quiet, but hallway/ waterpipes/mysterious pounding noises were somewhat noticeable the 3rd night, when the hotel seemed full. It got quieter after 11 pm. I'd be happy to stay here again.

Very easy to take PATH into NY Penn Station and then take a subway to hotel. From Newark airport, we took the #62 NJ Transit bus, outside baggage and to the right, for $1.10 to Newark Penn Station and then the PATH to Exchange Place station, for $1.50. Hotel is next to the station, as others have said. The Vu restaurant is pricey but good. Our dinner for two with entrees, shared salad, side dish, wine and shared dessert was over $150. But with a million dollar view.

We won the hotel for about $35 a night and it was the steal of the century. Fantastic location and views. Great attitude from the entire staff. NO Priceline attitude. Fantastic room. We requested a room with a view and were given a non-smoking room on the 8th floor looking out towards the NY harbor, the City skyline was visible if we looked to our left out of our window. Our room was clean, modern and wonderfully decorated. There was a coffee maker, blackout drapes, nice tv, two desk chairs with desk and a great firm bed with nice linens. The bathroom was ultramodern and very room. Hallways and common areas were all in great repair. A sleek and high-end hotel experience for less than a Motel-6. We gladly paid the $32 a night for parking. Valets and Bell Service workers were unfailingly polite and attentive. We didn't eat at the restaurant or sit at the bar, too busy, but they both had million dollar views. The lobby area also had a variety of couches/chairs to enjoy the view for free as well. Giftshop on premises, small pool and workout facility with a great view of the harbor. The area is pretty dead on the weekend, the smaller deli's are not open. About 3-4 blocks directly from the hotel is a Pizzeria Uno and a FatBurger, much cheaper and less than 10 minutes away by foot. Area seems quiet but safe at night. The NJ PATH system is literally across the driveway. $1.50 into NYC each way, very easy/clean/safe. It takes you right to the WTC site if you're interested. We would stay here in a heartbeat, if you can get this hotel for $100 or less, grab it! For $35 you'll feel guilty. Thanks BFT!
