Posts: 33 (05/15/09 12:41 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Tags : None Yesterday, using the A-B link I bid in Downtown Montreal (3.5 / 4 star level) $52, $55. $58, $60, $63 <unsuccessful using each of the four free-rebid zones. Today, I started my bidding at $60 <unsuccessful (but Priceline suggested I add $17 to my bid) I declined and used a free re-bid at $65 <and was successful taxes and fees for the 3 rooms (3 nights each) came to $110.73 This is a very busy weekend in Montreal, and I feel great to get three rooms at this great price! First, please post your post as a separate post, not added to a totally unrelated post. Second, there are guidelines for posting a failed bid, which are only designed to make such a post as useful as possible for members who may read it. Simply posting that you didn't get a room without letting a reader know the going rates/availability for hotels in your zone on your desired date doesn't provide much useful information. Here is the guideline from Hotel FAQs/Posting Guidelines: From this point going forward, if you choose to put up a post simply indicating your failed bids, you must include all of the following or your post may be removed. The percentage amounts listed are minimum thresholds for posting failed bids. It is not a bidding suggestion. Hotels City/Zone/Travel Dates/Quality Level(s) Bid The lowest available rates that meet all of your bidding parameters, as found on the hotels' websites. Be sure to always name the hotel alongside the rate you post. The failed bid must be at least 35% of the lowest available rate, with a minimum total value bid of $28 for 2-1/2, $33 for 3 or $40 for 4* hotels and $55 for 5* hotels. This is not a bidding suggestion. It is the minimum required to post a failed bid. Finally, item number 26 in the Hotel Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) may apply to your interest in checking in on a Saturday night. I encourage you to read it. It is possible that in Montreal hotels do not allow Saturday night checkin as I have experienced in different parts of the US. Regardless, hope you are successful getting the room you want. If you are, please post it as a separate post.

If all these requirements have to be made to post info on a failed bid, then I would rather not go through all the trouble. nonewbieca's post was useful to me as it was. I have never found any use for the going rates... to be honest, we base it on what others get for similar dates. That's all that matters.
