Omni (186 prepaid), Fairfax Embassy (143, but 119 prepaid), Churchill (129), Hilton Embassy (120, but 102 prepaid), and Hilton Towers (109, but 99 prepaid).
Suggestions? With the ability to get a prepaid room at 100 at one of the Hiltons, I am not inclined to bid higher than the 72 I have been bidding, and frankly
expected lower bids to have been succesful.
Have you re-checked rates? It's bizarre that with rates like that nothing has come up. But if you look back, in recent bidding reports we've only had
the Mariott Wardman Park showing up regularly in your rate range. So there must be a problem with inventory there.
I have two suggestions. First, you could go up to $75. I think even with fees, that would be a significant savings over $100. Even $80 would be.
Alternatively, you could go down to 3*.
Are you bidding using our link in the hotel keys picture?
I called the Marriott Wardman Park previously and was informed it was sold out that weekend which no doubt is creating an issue for inventory. Using the AB
link, I bid $65, 70, and 72 all rejected. Question: When I bid my first bid priceline claimed the average retail rate for a 3.5*+ for my location was $134.
When I added the first free rebid, the average retail price was supposedly only $103. (Thinking that my next bid of 72 represented a bid of 70% of retail, I
was not inclined to bid higher) Does this information--change in supposed average retail price-- help for any bidding strategy generally (or specifically with
my bidding)? I have never noticed the retail price change in prior bids.
The Marriott Wardman is the ideal location. Unwilling to go below 3.5*, but I suppose downtown-White House and Georgetown are close enough if the winning bid
is right. It seems $99 prepaid can be had at the Marriott properties (other than Wardman) but the others are $150+. I don't see winning bids for that
weekend posted, but I would bid as high as $70 for a 4* or 3.5* at those zones; otherwise I will stick with my Hilton and probably move from my cancellable
$109 rate and book a prepaid room at $99 if my bids are not successful in the next week. Suggested stratgey?
The Churchill is very nice - though not quite as metro-convenient as the Marriott.
If you have a car to park, you might try the garage at the Hilton across the street - I think it's MUCH cheaper than valet at the Churchill.
