Posts: 128 Sep 14 11 7:50 PM London Expert Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My original 8 night bid has now been split into 2-3-3 nights because I'm also bidding for my aunt and uncle who will be joining us for the middle 3 nights, so I'll need to book an extra room for part of it for them. Bidding went like this: Kensington78 +Hammersmith 79 + Wembley 80 Notting Hill 79 -- counteroffered at 96 +Kensington 80 +Hammersmith 81 +Wembley 82 At this point I thought I should have upped to $86 in response to the counteroffer and had made an error, so as to explain my logic in the next round where I started about $3 higher than I had planned to, reckoning acceptance level was somewhere around $88-$90 and my plan might not work with today's bidding round as it wouldn't take me high enough. So then I went: Regent's Park $83 +Notting Hill $84 ACCEPTED. I used the Bidding for Travel link. I have 2 more sets to bid for that I think might be more expensive than this one because weeknights will be involved with both other bookings.

So far as I've been bidding I have never started off combining zones in each round just so I see if I could find the floor when I restart with another zone and add on previously bid zones for rebids. As I said, I should have started round 3 one or two dollars lower now that I know that $84 was accepted -- but I had ballparked that with a $97 counteroffer, and had previously only made it up to $82 in Notting Hill, that my acceptance might be $86 to $88. So maybe $83 would have been accepted so it's a difference of $4 plus taxes really. Should also mention that our trip last week at our $88 a night Holiday Inn Regent's Park was great! Hotel was so-so, but for that location and the price I was very happy with it!

Used the same system on this one for bidding as earlier today when I got the same hotel for $84 but took your advice and used your link. I thought I might have to pay a bit more than for the Sat/Sun because my first night is a Thursday but apparently not. Kensington $78+Hammersmith $79+Wembley$80 (I always start with Kensington since I like it and it's usually one of the cheaper areas) Notting Hill $79 -- counteroffered at $96 -- added Kensington to $81 + Hammersmith $82 + Wembley $83 Accepted! We have stayed at this hotel before and it was a pretty good place in a fabulous location, so she knows what to expect from it and is very happy with the price. We just have 3 more nights to work at. I tried bidding last night for Nov 10-12 (the three middle nights of this trip), went up to $92 for Kensington, Notting Hill, Regent's Park, Bloomsbury and Mayfair (and used my 2 free rebid zones). I expect those nights will be more expensive because they are weeknights but won't try to go too high too soon. But this is better because I went up to $105 when I was trying to get all 8 nights together but couldn't get anything and I'm happy to have rock-bottom for 5 of the 8 nights. (I know I'm paying the booking fee 3 times rather than once doing it this way, but at least I can get that third room for 3 of the nights to include my uncle. (another family member is planning to stay for 2 nights which don't match up with the 2-3-3 split so I'm not going to try to work that in because that just gets too crazy to coordinate)
