Posts: 10309 10/19/11 1:01 AM Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Tonight, for the first time, I encountered Priceline's new "Guaranteed Amenities" descriptions for NYOP bidding. NEW! Guaranteed Amenities Check below for a list of guaranteed amenities for your area and star selections. And as you click on each zone, icons appear listing amenities, such as pets allowed or swimming pool or free internet or free parking (!), for each of the quality levels. I wonder if this is a dynamic listing for which Priceline will adjust the listed amenities according to the hotels that are available at the time you are bidding, or if it is something that will be more fixed in nature. They also show a "guest review score" in some instances, and I wonder how that could be verified. This will bear close watching, because it may offer insight into specific hotel availability, for example, if there is a hotel that does not offer free parking in the 3* category, and you want to avoid that hotel, it could be that you might infer that it is not available on your dates if the free parking guarantee appears. ALSO, I wonder how this will affect the possibility of UPGRADES: for example, in Las Vegas, in the NW zone, 1* and 2* hotels offer free parking, but higher quality levels do not, so presumably if you are bidding for a 2* hotel, you are guaranteed free parking. An upgrade might eliminate that "guaranteed amenity". This will bear some study. Please place all of your Priceline bids through our Priceline link. Posts: 10309 10/19/11 1:08 AM Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I see that in the Cancun, Mexico region, some quality levels in some zones offer the guaranteed amenities of "all inclusive", for example 2* and 2.5* hotels in the RivieraNorth/PuertoMorelos zone, whereas 3, 3.5 and 4* hotels do NOT offer all inclusive--so I would certainly hope that Priceline would NOT upgrade an offer in this circumstance! All Inclusive is a pretty big part of an offer, and would definitely require a higher bid. edit: I've moved this topic from the "bidding tips" category to this category where it probably fits better: misratings and quality issues. Choose the star level for your hotel". Very odd, Sheryl, when I first encountered this an hour ago, I checked on both Safari and Firefox, and it appeared. Just now, I tried, and it did NOT appear on Safari, but did on Firefox. It may be that Priceline is still in the middle of rolling this out, and it hasn't made it to all their servers on their network. I've now tried this on several other browsers, and got the old version of the PL pages. But when I was getting the version that had "guaranteed amenities", I put in a dummy offer, and the "contract page" that you initialize had even listed the "guaranteed amenities" that were pictured. Only this time, you don't see what's guaranteed until you click on the quality level. Makes comparison shopping more difficult. My prior questions are once again raised. I wonder how long they'll be here, and what sort of compensation Priceline puts behind the "guarantee" to make it a real guarantee, in the event a hotel doesn't offer the promised amenity. Posts: 171 10/29/11 8:13 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I tried the steps that KeenWink outlined just to see if I could find the new amenities he mentioned. While I was at the NYOP bid page I got an offer to chat. Savana B said "That is not a new element but a new element that is being tested is showing additional amenities (aside from the already guaranteed amenities). As this feature is still in it's test phase it is not available yet". Perhaps someone else would seek a chat and receive a more complete answer than that.
