When checking these websites, should we be looking for rooms labeled standard only, as priceline only deals with standard rooms? I have been checking some sites and all that comes up sometimes are "deluxe" rooms, which I am not sure is the equivalent to a standard room.

You are just looking for the lowest available non-government rate. Some hotels called their standard rooms "deluxe."

We travel at least 4 to 6 times a year. With at least two of those vacations lasting a week. And I have found hotelkingdom.com to be one of the cheapest websites around. I also like sidestep.com and lodging.com too. But some of the best deals I have ever gotten was at hotelkingdom.com.

One year in particular we were going to stay on the California coast about an hour from the Monterrey area. There was this nice hotel right on the ocean with access to the beach. Everywhere we looked it was $149 and up. At hotelkingdom.com I got it for $99 a night. It was one of our best vacations ever!

For booking in ASIA; try asiarooms.com; they have a fairly complete list of hotels throughout Asia with photos, maps and details.

sheg20, I believe all of the links are working properly. You may be having a problem due to something that is downloaded on your computer. After following the instructions at www.biddingfortravel.com/linkhelp.html let me know if the problem has been corrected.

I often bid on Canada and US cities- thanks for your help over the years.

I am travelling to Brazil at Christmas, and am looking for some deals. Is there no place where I can check for successful bids?

Brazil, Indiana, USA is near the Cloverdale, IN bidding area, and would be covered in the "Indiana" board;

Brazil, Missouri, USA is part of Potosi, Missouri, and would be covered in the "Missouri-All Other Cities" board;

Brazil, TD, is covered by the Trinidad and Tobago bidding area; I don't believe we've had any winning bids reported there, but I think if we did, it would be covered by the "Mexico/Bahamas/Aruba/Curacao/StLucia/Cayman Islands" board;

Priceline does not appear to offer bidding in the country of Brazil.

I've had good luck with www.venere.com for Rome and Venice. If you use it, don't miss the tabs that also let you find B&Bs and other types of lodging.

If you search on "promo venere" you usually can find a code that will give you a 4% discount.

I haven't tested the feature, but they claim to be cancellable.

In Venice I got a quirky, but interesting and squeaky clean, B&B. In Rome I picked a 3* I'd previously been put up in via a Globus-Gateway tour. While Priceline often omits breakfast in Europe, I did get it both times here.

Hi Sheryl, this thread has been going for over 13 years. What are the best places to look for a back-up that are not specific hotel sites which can take a long time? By this I mean sites like Expedia, Kayak, Hotels.com, etc.
