Nice tool but extremely annoying to have it "popup" (actually open on a side bar) whenever another online travel agency is being searched. I know that setting preference can be changed, but it is annoying to have it set on by default. Posts: 73 11/01/02 12:30 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've used Sidestep many times, I've had it come up with airfare offers that I couldn't find anywhere else. One time it was for a special fare found only at American's website, I've been very pleased with them. Another time, it directed me to Orbitz to book the tickets. I don't use it much for hotel bookings, however.

Definately don't use it for hotels, however it rocks for airfare and car rentals. I got (for a friend) $14.59 for a full size (NISSAN MAXIMA!!) in minneapolis last week, when I attempted to bid on priceline and the sidestep window popped up! It's very helpful

Directed me through Orbitz. Helpful hint: If you don't like what you see adjust the departure time(s), even if by one hour, and this will (sometimes) bring up a group of very different (sometimes much cheaper) flights. Haven't used it for hotels/rental cars as Bidding for Travel and Priceline have produced much better deals. What I don't like about it is when you close the window because you don't want to use it, and it keeps working and makes ping noise while it "hits" the hotels it finds.

If not please let me know. When following the suggesting to check rates and availability on the Travelweb site my SideStep program also activated. I found that SideStep offered a lower rate for the three (3) hotels I checked for a stay in Washington D.C. for 1/23-25/04. This may help in formulating your bid on Priceline.

Posts: 75 01/24/04 2:06 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Does anyone but me get numerous ad-ware files loaded on their PC following Sidestep installation? I used Sidestep on 3 different occasions and uninstalled it all 3 times after running Ad-Aware which uncovered numerous ad-ware files hiding in my PC, some trackers and some data miners. I'd say use Sidestep with caution until someone knowing more than I do about technology says it's safe to have these extra snoop and tell files on our PC's. Also, I agree with Arrzee, it's frustrating when Sidestep automatically pops in to hijack a portion of my screen when I really did not ask it to.

Yes, the info sheet reveals that they follow one's purchase pattern, but I didn't read carefully enough. I had tons of viruses pop up. Good old spybot zapped them. No more sidestep for me. To each his own

Posts: 78 03/20/04 10:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've noticed in the past few weeks that Southwest Airlines is not popping up on my sidestep searches for know Southwest routes. Sure enough, when I check the Southwest site, they had the lower fares than the results I got on Sidestep. Seems they aren't searching that site anymore.

For hotels go here: www.sidestephotels.com The best part of this is the software is platform-agnostic (I'm a mac user and couldn't use the aforementioned software).

It has found me some very good deals by using the nerby airport or flying late at night. Do I blindly follow what it come up with? NO I still do a lot of checking before I book anything. If you want it to quit popping up do this. Open the program. Look at the top for the link My Preferernces click it and it will open a new page. On that page look for the box SideStep preferences. In that box look for Auto-search uncheck that box.

Posts: 75 09/05/04 12:01 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In addition to having to scan and clean my computer from all the ad-ware Sidestep installs as part of their "download" process, I quit using Sidestep upon twice finding a "great" rate on rental cars but was unable to book either car as advertised. Never could get customer service on the line to talk about it after an extended hold time which sealed their fate with me. mrspilot

Does the same search, but there's no longer any need to deal with downloads, adware, or sidestep taking over when you search another site. It has some nice filtering capabilities to look thru your search results.
