Room: It was an exterior entry room in the back. As stated, the room was nice and clean.
Problems: (1) The heating unit did not work properly and was blowing cold air. The overnight temperature was right above freezing and it was pretty cold in the room in the morning. Called the front desk, they sent somebody to verify that the heater was not working properly. The gentleman verified and said the front desk would take care of us (me and my wife). He has offered to move us to another room for the duration of our stay, but since we were checking out, we could not do that.
(2) The bathroom was another thing. As I said hotels do a good job of remodeling their public areas, and the rooms, but the bathrooms are the most important (to me) areas for the refurb. The tub had blackened (worn) areas in the tub floor. The tile was old (aging poorly) and the walls looked like a poor patch job had been performed. And the tub was not draining properly. After a 5-7 minute shower, I was standing in 2 inches of soapy water. That's disgusting. If a cleaning crew were to be washing the tub after a guest checked out, they would have noticed the slow-draining tub. No excuse.
I was checking out and told the front desk manager about the problems. She said that they will be taken care of. I asked about their procedure for poor room conditions and she offered complimentary brunch. But I would have to wait until 10:30 am for brunch (it was 8:45 am) I told her that either some sort of a credit should be issued or a free stay on my next trip is in order. She told me that since I prepaid with Priceline, that she could not issue a credit and that she doesn't give complimentary rooms. And that complimentary brunch was the only thing she could do. (I'm a road warrior from way back with over 200 hotel nights in one year, and I know that that is not true.)
I have called the property management company and explained the situation. Will follow up when I get a response.
