Posts: 206 09/26/03 11:57 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	To follow up with our second stay: I did not ask for the Ainuhau Tower but we were given 1551 and 1653 for our two night stay (Starwood Preferred Guest maybe?). Both rooms were no different that 1242 that I had on the last stay so all of the above applies. I wanted to ask to see rooms in the other towers, but just did not find the time.

Posts: 21 09/29/03 11:03 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have to agree with most of the posts on here. I went to Hawaii for my wedding and my wedding guests were trying to save money. So they all used Priceline and stayed at one of three hotels 1) Sheraton Princess kaiulani 2) Sheraton Moana Surfrider 3) Radisson Prince Kuhio (I will post separate reviews). As a bride, I even stayed at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for 2 nights before I got married and moved over to the Sheraton Moana where my groom awaited. Well even though I was a bride, we had 6 rooms in total, I am a Starwood Preferred Plus member, I called ahead many times to tell them I was there for my wedding, they did not give me any special treatment. They seriously have an attitude when it comes to priceline customers. I don't think it really matters which wing you stay in, all of the rooms I saw looked pretty old. The rooms are not 3 star quality. The rooms are decent, clean, have all the necessary amenities, so it would be no problem for someone who just wants some place to stay. They did give us 2 double beds, which we asked for. The hotel location is wonderful. There are plenty of activities going on at the hotel. The concierge/tour desk is helpful. But if you want to feel special and pampered, go to another hotel.

Posts: 73 10/15/03 6:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	We stayed in Kaiulani Wing, 7th floor, Sept 27-29 2003. We had a room facing the garage, it was small, but it was very clean. The location of the hotel is excellent, we used the parking garage at $10 per day with in and out privileges. We've stayed here before, but I'm not sure if I'd priceline it again, I might bid 4* instead. All in all for the $50 we bid, it was a very good value.

I must say, a lot of what is posted here (both good and bad) is true - Fortunately, we don't have anything outrageously negative to say. We were given a room with an ocean and pool view on the 14th floor of the Ainahau tower. And like mentioned in an earlier review here, the room furniture and decor was a bit dated, but everything was very clean and in good shape. I would have to agree with the review from "bryang73" (listed above) about the overall condition and the surroundings of the Hotel, except for the elevators, which the longest we waited for one at anytime during our stay was less than a minute. Areas for improvement: Larger, updated T.V. sets, new & larger dressers and new mattresses (we woke up sore every morning - but a nice morning walk and relaxing on the beach took care of that). My only recommendation is to: AVOID THE BUFFET! It is over priced and the food is not very tasty at all. There are plenty of places to eat in Waikiki, I recommend getting out and finding one! Overall - A very nice vacation

It was a great stay. I really appreciated knowing little things about the hotel before we arrived. These things I picked up from reading other people's messages. IE: Having a Starwood Card was really important. The desk clerk (Dan) was great and we were given a great room overlooking the pool and a small view of the ocean. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and welcoming. Great trip! First time with Priceline and we would book another trip with them again.

Posts: 7 10/29/03 6:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I stayed at the Princess Kaiulani in late August for $41 + $10/ bonus money & had the most amazing room. It was very spacious & very clean as well. The room had a king size bed, a sofa, coffee table & a good size mini- fridge. The room overlooked the pool, & the Sheraton Moana with a paritial ocean view off to the left. This hotel has the best location & for the price it can't be beat! Staff were very nice & said that they would upgrade us since we had a Starwood card. We stayed 1/2 our trip at the Kaiulani & the other 1/2 at the Sheraton Waikiki for $100/ night. We were also upgraded at the Sheraton Waikiki to a partial ocean view..... again because of the Starwood card, but found the Kaiulani's room was bigger & nicer?! The view was also much better from the Kaiulani. I wish I booked my whole trip there instead of just 1/2. Oh well now I know for next time!

Posts: 26 11/03/03 5:53 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Just confirmed with the hotel that the Kaiulani Wing has NOT been closed. All of the so-called "standard rooms" are there. Have never stayed there myself but the chance of being put up in that building is enough for me not to use Priceline for my next visit to Waikiki. If Priceline is paying attention, they will drop this hotel from their inventory, with fanfare.

Posts: 41 12/31/03 10:38 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	We stayed here last November for 3 days with some friends. We got 6 rooms through Priceline for 50 $. We arrived at different times for check in and got one room in the Kaiulani Tower (city view). The other 5 rooms were in the Ainahau Tower. The room in the Kaiulani Tower was little smaller than the other rooms. The quality of the rooms is not 3, more like 2 motel rooms. The lobby, restaurant, pool area is a solid 3* property. The location is great. I think for the price we paid, we could not expect more!

Posts: 7 02/20/04 11:25 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yes we were in the "dreaded" Kaualani wing. The hotel was very crowded and a LOT of rooms in this wing were occupied. While it was small, it was clean and being on the 10th floor pretty quiet. I was thrilled to get this for $60. a night, wish we were still there. If you love lobster, the Friday night seafood buffet is a MUST.

Posts: 26 03/02/04 6:18 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Stayed here 2/27/04-3/1/04...Just got back...and it was great!!! We arrived in the middle of one of the worse thunderstorms this winter. It was an ordeal just to get to the hotel itself (flooding in the streets, impossible to even catch a cab). But when we arrived we were greeted with great service, and without even knowing it we were put into the 24th floor in the Ainahau tower. Got this hotel on 2 separate but consecutive PL reservations. The check-in lady went out of her way to call her manager in order to put us in the same nice room for both "stays." Our room was above average, though dated. But the view made up for everything. From the 24th floor you can see the ocean, the Honolulu skyline, and during the storm you can see the rainclouds coming from a mile away. Tiki torches from Cheesecake Factory and sounds from the International Marketplace also complemented our view. From the balcony you can also watch people sunbathe on the sand and surfers trying to catch a wave. After settling in, we went back down to the front desk and thanked our check-in person for our nice room. She was so sweet! We realized the next day how lucky we were to get this tower, and to get our original check-in lady. When we went to "re-code" our key for our second reservation, "Theodora" explicitly mentioned that this was a priceline reservation and made it a big deal that she had to double-check and called her manager again. She was a little rude, not really paying attention while we were standing there (she was gossiping with the lady next to her the whole time), and did not offer to give us our receipt for our first day's incidentals until we asked (the printout was right next to her on the printer). I'd avoid her at all costs. The location of the Sheraton PK is simply AWESOME, and it makes walking around in Waikiki much easier. My complaints generally are about the parking garage, which is almost always full and has no elevator (so you'd have to walk down 5 flights of stairs), and the pool (which is ugly). Some people might also mind that the prostitutes that tend to hang out on Kaiulani Blvd. after 10pm. I didn't realize that they were there at first, but its obvious after a while. It might make you uncomfortable if you mind that sort of thing. They don't really bother anyone (It just made me feel kind of weird walking past them). Although I didn't stay in the Kaiulani tower (thank goodness), it looks wretched even from the outside. The people I saw standing on those balconies overlooking the parking garage didn't look too happy either. Avoid it if you can.

Guest card as I saw mentioned above and was upgraded to a partial oceanview (view of pool and Sheraton Moana mostly) in the A. tower. I was overall very happy with the room and hotel in general and for the price I was thrilled. The location is great also.

This hotel is deserving of it's three star rating. We were quite pleased. Excellent location. Directly across the street from the Sheraton Moana - you couldnt be more IN Waikiki. $10 daily parking fee. We were on the seventh floor overlooking the pool. Very nice room - looked recently remodeled. Note: had we not been 7 floors up, it would have been quite noisy from the constant traffic of Waikiki, but I think this would be a problem with every hotel in Waikiki Beach except the rooms right on the ocean. The lobby was nicely appointed and the grounds were well kept. Free entertainment every night at sunset. I would stay there again.

Posts: 8 07/27/04 9:24 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My husband and I stayed here for one night on May 29, 2004. Thank goodness we were only stayed at the Princess Kaualani briefly! For $60 it wasn't a terrible deal for the area, but the room was worn and dated. I can't remember the name of the tower we stayed in, but one would recognize it by the beat-up doors, faded teal paint scheme, and dingy carpet in the hallways. The room wasn't much better. Our room was fairly small and the bathroom was dated. I felt like I needed to wear shoes at all times to avoid coming into contact with the carpet. The room also had a lot of noise from traffic below. If we had not been so tired from a 10 hour plane ride, I know sleeping would have been difficult. I would not recommend anyone staying here (at least in the wing we stayed in) for an extended period. For one or two nights, it would be tolerable for the price. I cannot comment on the other amenities of the hotel (room service, pool, etc) because we were off to Sheraton Kauai early the next morning.

The hotel is centrally located, so no complaints here. By the way Sheraton Kauilani charges $18 resort fee per night. It includes parking, water and fruit service at the beach and free non alcoholic punch the first night
