What a deal.Easy check in ,room with two queen beds, easy chair and ottoman, 2 phones, coffemaker, work station with fast internet, nintendo, free indoor secure parking, tiny (2 lane) lap pool and 6 person outdoor jacuzzi. It is 20 minutes to airport, 3 blocks to a nice park, and across the street from a mall with 200 stores , grocery , and restaurants. I am delighted with this property. Many business travelers. Posts: 315 06/09/02 12:41 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Nice property with free parking. Skytram nearby takes you directly to downtown in 15-20 minutes which is better than driving. I wish this property was downtown and I would stay everytime.

The free parking was a real plus and since my car was oversized, they valet parked it in a special secure area and didn't charge for the valet parking (which is normally an additional $14 CDN). This area is convenient to DT on the SkyTram, but quite a bit less touristy and I enjoyed walking about and shopping and eating in an area frequented by locals. Speaking of eating, there are tons of ethnic options within an easy walk of the hotel. Try the Thai restaurant acroos the street.

A new hotel, you get free parking and one of the loveliest rooms I have ever seen. Also the air conditioning unit is in the wall as opposed to a bulky unit next to the bed and it is whisper quiet. The bed was firm and very comfortable, fresh linens. All in all, a good value for $50 (during the Celebration of Light festival, couldn't get anything in downtown) but I saw that someone else got this hotel for $40 recently. Very good deal. The only bad thing is it takes about 15-20 minutes of driving to get to downtown. However, there is a Skytram that will take you to downtown from a station very near the hotel. All in all, a very good value and we would definitely go back.

I would also add that the hotel is across the street from the Burnaby Public Library, so if you have some time it is a good place to read some magazines etc. Across the other street is the shopping center - has a McDonald's in the food store as well as a Tim Hortons (coffee shop). They also have a Boston Pizza (not bad I tried it one night), and a Future Shop (Canadian Best Buy). Heating system very efficient and quiet, nice quality towels.

Free parking(!), cross the street from a huge Metrotown shopping complex and the sky-train; if you don't want to drive into downtown, fight traffic and then pay for parking, this is a great way to get around. Had a nice, bright, no-smoking, King room that was clean and tastefully decorated. Free, broadband internet connection. Was remarkable because my 3 night stay was unremarkable, if you know what i mean... Everything worked perfectly as expected. No hassles, no complaints about service, bed, amenities. The way it should be. At the $40-$50 range, this is definitely one of the better Priceline deals.

Posts: 36 06/18/04 4:27 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	We stayed here for two nights as an alternative to downtown since we were attending an event near GM Place and Skytrain serves both locations. Downtown locations not served by Skytrain can be a bit harder to get to; we had a miserable drive to Granville Island one evening, but the return trip was quick and easy. Our room was an adequately- sized 4* king, facing away from downtown. Since it was one of the smaller rooms on the floor, my guess is theres not a bad room in the place. My 3-year-old loved the pool area which includes a small childrens pool, lap pool and spa. Both pools are nicely heated. Room service breakfast wasnt anymore expensive than other hotels, was presented very well and delivered right on time. The fitness area was small but functional. The Asian-focused mall attached to the hotel is a nice perk as we took advantage of its very interesting food court. Shoppers will delight in the easy access to this mall as well as the Metrotown/Metropolis complex, the largest shopping complex Ive ever been to (and Ive been around)! We would stay here again.

Posts: 5 10/03/04 6:34 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A few data points: taxi fare from the airport (YVR) was a little over $29 Canadian. The Metrotown Skytrain station is a couple of short blocks away, and the fare to downtown was C$1.25 and took about 20 minutes. The end-of-the-line is the Waterfront station, which is about 100 yards from the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

Posts: 87 01/07/05 1:28 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Stayed here twice over the past week, for one night at a time, and have to again add a note about my total satisfaction with my stays at this property. On my second stay, despite my PL reservation, the clerk asked me whether I wanted to stay in a "King Suite" with a view of the mountains and North Shore skyline. It was a splendid no-smoking room on a high floor with an incredible view, and I kept wondering 'what's the catch'? Not too far from the elevators and away from the vending and ice machines... I guess it is true that some properties don't necessarily discriminate against PL guests; they were true to their word when saying that they assign these rooms according to availability. The Suite offers a spacious living room with a large screen television in an armoir, a couple of large couches, large armchair and ottoman and floor to ceiling windows. I'll re-cap why I will always want to return here for my stays in the lower mainland: 1) spotless, tastefully decorated rooms 2) unobtrusive service with a smile 3) free underground parking 4) hotel is part of a large Asian shopping mall (The Crystal) with a very good Asian food court 5) a short walk to the Sky-Train rapid transit system 6) cinemas and public library across the street 7) lots of shopping and dining alternatives in easy walking distance Free high speed wireless broadband internet in every room 9) Across the parking lot is the lower mainland's largest shopping complex. The King Suite was very nice but I would have been more than pleased with their regular King or double queen rooms. There really isn't a bad room in this hotel. I give the Hilton Metrotown 2 thumbs up.

Posts: 201 08/04/12 10:16 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	An update, since the previous review is more than seven years old. Parking is no longer free -- it's $9 (plus tax?). Still not too bad, although the "parkade" is kind of crazy-making. The hotel is very security conscious: the elevators require a room key to operate and the gates to the parking are closed after 10 p.m. (just pull into the valet area and they'll open them for you). As people have noted, there are lots of shopping options, especially if you like Asian food. Richmond is famous for being a Chinese enclave, but the area around the hotel is also heavily Asian -- not as upscale as Richmond, but perhaps more varied (i.e. more Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, regional Chinese options). It seems in the past Hilton has been notorious for assigning "Priceline" rooms. While there isn't anything in any way "wrong" with my room, I did notice from the fire safety diagram that it's by far the smallest room on the floor, and it's far from the elevators and faces the less-scenic direction. It would be a little cozy for two people, but since it's just me it's just right, and very well appointed and attractive.
