Well, I too relied on the hotel list to determine my free re-bid zones. I never imagined a podunk town like Orange Park would ever get a 3*, but apparently it is brand spankin new. I was trying to get the Beach or downtown, both of which people have gotten for the same or less than this bid. In fact, someone else got this same hotel as me (making the same mistake) but for $10 a night less (if I had added Orange Park earlier, I would have gotten it for less).
Does anyone have any advice? My son is disabled and we are going to the Mayo Clinic, which is near the beach. I wanted to give him a couple days vacation at the beach before his hospitalization, not in the middle of a swamp by a naval base!
I called priceline and explained, and they basically said my only recourse was to call the hotel and see if they would help. I called the hotel, the lady was very nice and said she would have been happy to cancel it but it is billed through priceline and there is no way for her to reverse the charge. So I tried calling priceline again and couldn't get through. I emailed them, and they said too bad, but heres a nice $10 a night credit for your next bid.
Any suggestions on what I can tell the hotel lady to see if there is a way she can actually help? Or any further appeal to priceline? This Holiday Inn looks perfectly nice, but it is 30-45 minutes from EVERYTHING, downtown, the sights, Riverwalk, the beach etc.
Personally I think they have a lot of nerve lumping Orange Park in with Jacksonville.
